Back in the 1970s when a few interested women in India picked up the sport, is when the fairer sex was initiated into the cricketing world. Zonal events became National Tournaments, until India�s women�s team debuted officially at the 1978 World Cup. Little known fact #1
Jemimah Rodrigues is an allrounder on the Mumbai women's cricket team and is in the Under-17 Maharashtra hockey team. She was born and brought-up at Bhandup in the far suburbs of Mumbai, along with her two brothers, Enoch and Eli. Jemimah enjoyed playing both hockey and cricket. At the age of four years, she started playing season cricket. They moved to another corner of the city at a very young age to avail of better sports facilities. Her father, Ivan Rodrigues, was a junior coach in her school and she grew up bowling to her brothers. Jemimah�s father, Ivan, who has been coaching her since the very beginning, started the girls� cricket team at her school, and since then, she hasn�t looked back!

And that�s why then Director of WICL, Shaun Martyn brought Masaba Gupta as the official sporting apparel designer to design women�s playing and training cricket apparel. It seemed like the perfect idea at the time, because they were looking to create an identity through design and packaging of the sport. A partnership with this fantastic young designer seemed to complete the picture. In the times of IPL and T-20, presentation of the game and the players was an integral part of moving the women�s game to the next level, and they achieved that by bringing Masaba on-board, back in 2014.
